The formulation works by inducing a regenerative process in the deeper layers of the skin:

  • 33% TCA: An active ingredient used for exfoliation in many chemical peels, but it also stimulates growth of fibroblasts to boost collagen and elastin production. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can also destroy bacteria, microbes and microscopic dirt/debris that accumulate within the pores.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide: Acts as an antiseptic while enhancing the penetration of the TCA into the deeper dermis, reducing inflammation and lifting out unneeded particles.
  • Kojic Acid: Brightens the skin by halting melanin production, improving uneven pigmentation and skin tone.

The entire treatment typically takes only 30-45 minutes to complete. The provider will begin with cleansing the skin. Then the PRX Derm Perfexion solution will be applied and massaged into the skin until it is fully absorbed. Several applications of the solution will be performed in the same session. Following the applications, the skin will be washed and a deep moisturizer will be applied. Most clients report little to no discomfort during the procedure. Some clients report mild stinging/tingling, itching or warmth doing treatment but this is very tolerable without the need for topical or local anesthetic.

Immediately after treatment, it is normal for some clients to observe mild redness and warmth in the skin for the first few hours. Some mild swelling may occur around sensitive skin around the eyes if this area is treated. Although the skin is significantly less likely to peel with this treatment, some flaking may occur particularly around the nose and mouth area or areas where the skin is thick. Any side effects that may occur improve within a few days to a week.

The number of treatment sessions needed will vary depending on the desired goal and skin condition that is being addressed.
